There is a term in the Bible that is used for someone who made claims of being able to tell someone’s future, or to just tell the future by specially contrived (magical) means. They would call them a soothsayer, and fortune teller. Their abilities would be attributed to what was hoped to be perceived as magic, or magical, and some thought of it as spiritual. Magical abilities to tell the future, was regarded as soothsaying. Soothsaying was another way of saying sorcery, and it was forbidden in the Bible. Many today who practices such things are knowingly or unknowingly inviting evil demons into their minds and lives.

My desire in naming my blog Sooth Apothecary, is to work towards an understanding in the world of Herbal Medicine, it is not, nor ever has been, magical. There is nothing magical about the physical world. There is no merging of spiritual and physical. Some claim magical properties in crystals, etc. Some believe that some herbs have a magical element to them, so they can create potions for all types of things, love potion, potions for attractions, potions for this, potions for that, potions to get a job, all kinds of spell potions to manipulate other persons. This is not the truth, this is not Sooth, but it is soothsaying. Soothsaying is basically lying against the truth, against Sooth. It is false truth.

My aim in this blog is to delve into the truth about herbalism. It is my desire to show with undeniable proof that there are some who have tried to confiscate, manipulate, and control herbalism for themselves while, at the same time, denying its true history.

There is a story in the Bible, found in the Book of Acts, Chapter 16: 16-18, that illustrates what I’ve been writing about.

“And it came about while we were going to the place of prayer that a certain servant-girl having a soothsaying spirit met us, who was bringing-about a large profit to her masters telling-fortunes.  This one, while closely-following Paul and us, was crying-out, saying, “These men are slaves of the Most-High God, who are proclaiming to you a way of salvation”.  And she was doing this for many days. And Paul, having been greatly-annoyed, and having turned to the spirit, said, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to depart from her!” And it went out at the very hour.”

If you have time, it would be helpful to go and read this chapter in your own bible.

We are about Truth, and not about fairytales’ and fables. We are interested in what is healthy, what is life giving and sustaining, not false beliefs that lead down a road destined for destruction for all who follow that road.

Sooth is an old word for truth, and that is what we are all about at Sooth Apothecary. In the pagan world, soothsaying is the norm. For those who follow Jesus Christ, telling “sooth”, telling the truth, is the norm.
