There were 118 elements listed in 2010, with some believing it possible to continue discovery perhaps beyond the current seven rows. I keep a periodic table displayed on my apothecary cabinet, always desiring to keep in mind the wonder of God’s creation, even as an herbalist. Or, I should say, especially as an herbalist!

Herbalism is based on real science, not mythology. There is no reason to pretend that herbs do something, for just as the wind is proved by your hair being blown around, the effects of herbs are observable by how they affect the body. There is no mysticism involved. The Egyptians believed that the elements, that is, those things they perceived as elements, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water were all manifestations of the divine. Although there was no evidence of this, just a make-believe system invented about what the eye could see, but the mind did not comprehend, that said the Egyptian god Geb was Earth, and Shu was Air, Ra was Fire, and Nun was Water. In Aristotle’s day it was believed by Aristotle that these 4, earth air fire water were more symbolic ideas rather than elements of nature or the supernatural. So, from mythology to symbolism, to chemistry in the 18th century. Chemistry proved to the world that nature was not magical, or superstitious. It didn’t require spiritual power to perceive the elements, just chemistry. Chemistry is what the Laws of Physics is all about and vice versa. I know this is debatable because they make up two areas of science, but there can be no Chemistry without the Laws of Physics. It just wouldn’t exist, on a molecular, quantum level. All of science is subject to the Laws of Physics. I won’t go into subjects like Cosmology where you’ll find some who thrive on knowing nothing, etc. And rules mean nothing…. A perfect philosophy for a pagan society. Yet God designed the Laws of Physics, and created chemistry.

The Pagan world view in this modern age is that Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit are “spiritual” elements that can be understood as building blocks and are very much what makes up modern day paganism in their systems of belief. It is no different than the ancient Egyptians who fantasized about Geb, Shu, Ras, and Nun. None of what they believed was actual reality. Those who came after proved this with simple chemistry. There were no supernatural elements in nature. There was no magic involved. What paganism is doing today, especially when it comes to Herbalism, is borrowed from times gone by. Times that have been dismissed as fanciful imaginings. Todays Paganism is imitations of what others have done and do today. They have stolen Herbalism from the people and claimed it for themselves. In doing so, many Christians today are leery of Herbalism because the pagans, witches, sorcerers, conjurers, soothsayers, and all the rest. People don’t know that Herbalism does not belong to witches. Herbalism belongs to Christians. This is why the pagans have tried to corrupt this area. They have no area of their own (who would have given to them?), they have no history (modern paganism is a 20th century construct), so they have stolen it from Christians. Health belongs to the people of God! God, who created the Earth, also owns all that is within and upon the Earth. Nothing He has made belongs to the pagan who denies God. Everything belongs to those who belong to God, for those who will inherit the earth!

God made the Herb of the field for mankind. The history of Herbs and vegetable plants goes back to the very beginning, to the Book of Genesis. Here is a list of scripture references I found on a website earlier, 27 Bible verses about Herbs. Or you can google search yourself. The evidence is out there. No need to take my word for it. God made all the plant life on the Earth for all of mankind. Give Him thanks, and not mystical false deities that can do nothing but masquerade as deity.
